Guys do funeral songs have to be sad?

I’m asking because I don’t normally go to that many funerals.. Also the last one I attended I was a gross sobbing mess so I didn’t really pay attention to the song selection.. But I was wondering, like in case I die unexpectedly my parents have NO IDEA what kind of music I like and I don’t want them to play like.. Josh Groban (even though I like Josh Groban.. I just don’t want him to be played at my funeral!) or something.. I’d like something more pretentious and personal like Rufus Wainwright but then some of his songs (the ones I think would fit) aren’t all that sad and I don’t know if that would be appropiate but then I don’t even know what the general mood would be like at my funeral because I obviously don’t know how I’m going to die or how people would feel (I would assume sad but then assuming makes an ass of you and me or something like that so).

But what is the protocol for these things?
